What educators are saying

My students were engaged with this resource. I used them for both homework and practice in the classroom. The different skills were great and I had enough for the whole unit.
This is a great resource that provides educators with lesson plans/outlines and worksheets to teach fractions. It was very effective and found minimal errors.

How can I use these fractions packets?

    • Supplement your core curriculum
    • Reteach or remediation lesson
    • Small group math intervention
    • Tutoring or homeschool
    • Test-prep

What does Sally’s “gradual release model” entail?

    • Sally’s lessons follow an “I Do, We Do, You Do” format.  A math concept is introduced whole group, students then practice with a partner, and finish with independent work time.  This deliberate scaffolding keeps students from feeling defeated or frustrated!
    • Sally’s packets also build slowly in difficulty.  We meet students where they are, regardless of level.  As students gain confidence, the problems get progressively harder.  Not all students will complete all problems and that is by design!
    • Each packet finishes with a “Challenge Page” for anyone who needs something extra!

In addition to the deliberate scaffolding, each 4th grade fraction review lesson includes an instructional guide jam-packed with teaching hacks and best practices.  There is also a “Misconceptions” section that allows you to be one step ahead of mistakes students are most likely to make.

This 4th Grade Fraction Operations unit is common core aligned to 4th grade standards 4.NF.3 (adding & subtracting fractions with like denominators), 4.NF.4 (multiplying fractions by whole numbers), 4.NF.5 (adding tenths & hundredths in fraction & decimal form).

    Understand a fraction 𝘢/𝘣 with 𝘢 > 1 as a sum of fractions 1/𝘣.
Understand addition and subtraction of fractions as joining and separating parts referring to the same whole.
    Decompose a fraction into a sum of fractions with the same denominator in more than one way, recording each decomposition by an equation. Justify decompositions, e.g., by using a visual fraction model. Examples: 3/8 = 1/8 + 1/8 + 1/8; 3/8 = 1/8 + 2/8; 2 1/8 = 1 + 1 + 1/8 = 8/8 + 8/8 + 1/8.
Add and subtract mixed numbers with like denominators, e.g., by replacing each mixed number with an equivalent fraction, and/or by using properties of operations and the relationship between addition and subtraction.
Solve word problems involving addition and subtraction of fractions referring to the same whole and having like denominators, e.g., by using visual fraction models and equations to represent the problem.
