Description

Are you looking for a really fun French Summer multiplication activity using arrays? In this product your students will use array task cards to learn the commutative principle. If they know 3x5, they also know 5x3! Use these task cards instead of a worksheet. Your students will love it because they will be out of their seats, the task cards are much more attractive than a worksheet and students won't even realize that they are doing a worksheet!

How this resource helps teachers!

  • Whole class or centre activity in French, already prepared for you!
  • Includes a variety of easy (for you) and fun activities
  • Includes posters to illustrate the concepts
  • Good for teachers on call
  • Easy to store and use
  • Answer key for easy marking
  • All task cards are in both colour and black and white

How to Use:

  • Place the task cards randomly around the room. They should be well spaced out and in easy to find places.
  • Each student will need a recording sheet and pencil.
  • Students could put the recording sheet on a clipboard or just find a hard surface to print their answers.
  • The students walk around, find a task card that no-one is using and print the answer on their recording sheet.

Why Task Cards are Effective:

  • Students are active as they move around the room.
  • Game-like, fun.
  • Students focus on one task at a time, less stress than a worksheet.
  • Struggling students are not overwhelmed.
  • Can also be used for assessment.

What is included in this Resource:

  • 2 sets of 20 summer-themed multiplication task cards in colour and black and white
  • Mini cover, mini answer key and full page answer key for each set

Interpret products of whole numbers, e.g., interpret 5 × 7 as the total number of objects in 5 groups of 7 objects each. For example, describe a context in which a total number of objects can be expressed as 5 × 7.
Apply properties of operations as strategies to multiply and divide. Examples: If 6 × 4 = 24 is known, then 4 × 6 = 24 is also known. (Commutative property of multiplication.) 3 × 5 × 2 can be found by 3 × 5 = 15, then 15 × 2 = 30, or by 5 × 2 = 10, then 3 × 10 = 30. (Associative property of multiplication.) Knowing that 8 × 5 = 40 and 8 × 2 = 16, one can find 8 × 7 as 8 × (5 + 2) = (8 × 5) + (8 × 2) = 40 + 16 = 56. (Distributive property.)
