Rationale

In 2007, Sahin Kesici, PhD published a paper regarding the counseling topics that would be most useful for middle school students during the 2006-2007 academic school year in Turkey. Although this research was done some time ago in another country, topics related to academic and social skills are important and classic. These are skills that are important to be taught and would be irresponsible to assume that students “should have learned this by now.” These are skills that are often overlooked but are critical to the learning and development of our young leaders. The following units contain detailed lesson plans for middle school students. These units are roughly based upon the needs of students outlined by Sahin Kesici, PhD.
