Description
Keep your students engaged around Christmas break with this fun 3rd grade math digital escape room activity! Use asa winter math center, or practice third grade math skills at your holiday party with a online breakout game. This digital resource will have your class buzzing with excitement while practicing standards-based math skills. When the gingerbread man traps your class in a bakery, can they use their math skills to escape? In this online breakout, students access a Google Form™ (no Google accounts or e-mail required) that automates the escape room process. This is a challenging escape room that will require students to use critical thinking skills to complete the puzzles. Digital escape rooms are a great worksheet alternative. If you are looking for an easier escape room challenge, check out Escape the Snow Globe!

Capitalize on students' excitement over Christmas, Hanukkah, or other winter holidays with a fun review of 3rd grade math skills. *This gingerbread themed escape room does not mention any specific holidays. Encourage collaboration and student engagement while working on multiplication, division, word problems, interpreting pictographs, and other third grade skills.

FAQ
- Do students need to have Gmail™ accounts? NO! Anyone with internet access and a tablet, computer, or even phone can complete the breakout.
- How long will this take? Most students will be able to complete this activity in under 45 minutes. You can allow 60 minutes to be safe. The form will not save student data, so if you are worried about your students not finishing on time, simply have them write their answers on scratch paper. They can then come back and quickly re-enter their answers and pick up where they left off. Also, you can consider allowing students to make this a calculator active activity if you are concerned about time.
- Will students have to search the web to figure out the puzzles? NO! All of the information needed will be provided in the Google Form™. The math in this activity is all standards-based.
- Do I have to hide clues? No! There are no clues to hide. Simply give the students a QR code to scan or a link to click, and everything is automated from there!
