3 Science Brochures/Pamphlets - Research Projects for Grades 3 to 6

As an elementary Visual Arts & Science specialist, I know how hard it can be to find engaging and aesthetically pleasing research projects that are age-appropriate for our students. Thus, I designed these three (3) tri-folds, brochures, pamphlets (or whatever you call it!) with all my Science students in mind!

Animal Pamphlet - Gr.3+4:

This educational resource includes:

• How-To Guide for teachers
• Sheet for teachers to write down names of each student & their chosen animal species
• Sample pamphlet for teachers, parents & students
• Blank pamphlet for students to complete
• Evaluation rubric

For students to succeed, you must:

• Allow them to conduct their research in class or assign it as homework
• Have access to the Internet/devices to look up specific facts and information
• Make sure you have covered the following concepts/units in class before students begin their research: common & scientific name (binominal name); animal diets (carnivore, herbivore & omnivore); animal classification; size (length, height & weight); habitat, biomes & geographic range; lifespan and population; predation and enemies; and lastly, human conservation of wildlife.

Dinosaur Pamphlet - Gr. 3+4:

This educational resource includes:

• How-To Guide for teachers
• List of the 25 most popular dinosaurs (to be cut out & have students pick at random)
• Sheet for teachers to write down names of each student & their chosen dinosaurs
• Sample pamphlet for teachers, parents & students
• Blank pamphlet for students to complete
• Evaluation rubric

For students to succeed, you must:

• Allow them to conduct their research in class or assign it as homework
• Have access to the Internet/devices to look up specific facts and information
• Make sure you have covered the following concepts in class before students begin their research: Fossils; Triassic, Jurassic & Cretaceous periods; animal diets; length, height & weight

Extreme Weather & Natural Disasters Pamphlet - Gr. 4,5+6:

This educational resource includes:

• How-To Guide for teachers
• List of the 23 extreme weather events & natural disasters (to cut out & have students pick at random)
• Sheet for teachers to write down names of each student & their chosen topics
• Sample pamphlet for teachers, parents & students
• Blank pamphlet for students to complete
• Evaluation rubric

For students to succeed, you must:

• Allow them to conduct their research in class or assign it as homework
• Have access to the Internet/devices to look up specific facts and information
• Make sure you have covered the following concepts in class before students begin their research: Earth’s layers, landforms, plate tectonics & volcanoes; weather & the water cycle; and, our solar system & the sun.
