What educators are saying

I love these themed pages for center review for my students. They are easy to print and use and provide much needed practice for important skills. Thank you for a great resource.
I really like how open ended this resource is. Students are encouraged to use whichever strategy is their favorite. It would be good to use as an assessment too!

Description

This resource includes 3-digit addition and subtraction practice pages in a fun winter theme! Students can solve the equations using the expanded form strategy or the standard algorithm. I have included worksheets with color and black and white clip art.

Note: I updated this resource on 1/9/22. If you purchased it before 1/9/22, please download it again for the revised version.

This resource includes:

  • 4 anchor charts demonstrating the expanded form strategy
  • 1 page addition without regrouping
  • 1 page addition with and without regrouping
  • 1 page addition with regrouping
  • 1 page subtraction without regrouping
  • 1 page subtraction with and without regrouping
  • 1 page subtraction with regrouping
  • 2 pages mixed addition and subtraction with and without regrouping
  • 2 pages mixed addition and subtraction with regrouping
  • answer keys for all pages

Please note: The addition and subtraction worksheets are the same for both the color and black and white clip art. I included both so you could use whichever ones you prefer. There are a total of 10 unique addition and subtraction student worksheets and 4 addition and subtraction mini anchor charts in this set.

The number sentences on each page are written horizontally with work space beneath for students to show work and solve. Rewriting the problem in the work space gives students practice lining the digits up correctly.

I teach my students to regroup using the expanded form method before moving on to the standard algorithm. This method is a natural transition from using manipulatives (base ten blocks) and has the added advantage of continued practice with the expanded form strategy. These worksheets provide the extra horizontal space needed to solve using expanded form.

If your students are already using the standard algorithm for addition and subtraction, these worksheets will provide practice lining up the digits correctly as they rewrite the number sentences vertically.

Thank you!
