What educators are saying

I am a reading specialist and one of my students was so interested in learning about government. I found that resource and fell in love with it. I could teach so many standards in only one resource. I highly recommend it.
Great resource! Short, reading passages with questions to help students understand the three branches of government and the role of each branch.

Description

Integrate literacy into your social studies lessons by reading and responding to passages about the 3 branches of the United States government. Included are short passages with comprehension questions about the Executive, Judicial, and Legislative branches of government. Comprehension questions are multiple choice, short answer, and true/false. The questions challenge students to process what they've read to answer questions and to find answers within a piece of text. The comprehension passages could easily be completed independently, in small groups, or as a whole group. They also make an excellent review tool and homework assignment. The resource is included in both printable and digital format (Google Slides).

Concepts Addressed:

  • Primary roles of each branch- Executive, Judicial, and Legislative
  • Voting
  • President of the United States
  • Cabinet & the Department Agencies
  • Senate
  • House of Representatives
  • Supreme Court
  • Supreme Courthouse

Each passage and question sheet was created in black and white and color. To use the digital copy of the resource, you must have a Google account.
