Description

2nd Grade Wonders Literature Anthology

Authors and Topics Unit 5

Digital Book BINGO

(may be used with Wonders 2014, 2017, 2020, and 2023 editions)

Do you use McGraw-Hill Reading Wonders in your 2nd grade classroom?

Do you use Accelerated Reader OR have other book quiz options available?

This EDITABLE Google Slides Book BINGO activity, integrating technology and reading, can be an engaging way to continue to expand your students’ reading and listening experiences with a variety of authors and genres!

Add to your paperless ELA or Library/Media Center resources with this Digital Book BINGO project!

* I originally created Reading Book BINGO activities to have an additional, fresh approach using Accelerated Reader. Any book quiz option will give added accountability for this BINGO project.

* Accelerated Reader gave me a simple way to confirm a book had been read and understood. Read OR listen to a book… take a quiz… choose another book to read OR listen to… was our mantra.

I did NOT ask students to choose independent reading material books by Reading or Lexile level. I did NOT worry about Reading or Lexile levels assigned to books I read aloud. In my opinion, Reading or Lexile levels don’t need to define your students. Sharing the article I read about that HERE.

* I wanted my students to build confidence and stamina as independent readers, refine and improve their listening skills, AND develop a sense of what they enjoyed reading or listening to being read aloud.

* I wanted my students to visit the Library with enthusiasm, selecting books by an author they've come to enjoy, a genre that has them hooked, excited about the next book in an author’s series, gain comfort and confidence exploring nonfiction, or exploring an author or genre that might be something my students wouldn’t ordinarily select.

* I wanted to encourage my students to embrace the understanding that adults do not choose a book to read because of the thickness of the book spine, OR the number of Accelerated Reader or Reading Counts points a book might be worth, OR the Reading Level or Lexile Level assigned to it.

This classroom-tested product file includes:

* a Google Slide Book BINGO Board to assign to your students through Google Classroom, Schoology, Brightspace, etc.

Students will select any 3 books to read OR listen to being read aloud, from the 19 book choices given.

The Google Slide Student Book Bingo board file is EDITABLE! Book cover images may be added to or deleted from the Google Slide Student Book Bingo board file by teachers, adjusting for a best fit for individual classrooms.

The Google Slide Student Book BINGO board includes blank spaces for students to place 3 book cover images across, 3 down, or 3 on the diagonal, extending and enriching the learning about authors and topics included in Grade 2 Wonders Literature Anthology Unit 5.

Your students will drag and drop each of 3 book cover images, showing what they’ve chosen to read OR listened to read aloud, and place on their own, individual BINGO boards, making each board unique.

Making a copy of the Student Book BINGO Board Google Slide file into your own Google Drive does NOT need TPT to have access to your Google Drive.
