What educators are saying

This worked very well with my ESOL students. They enjoyed it and it covered the needed skills well.
This was a great resource to use with my students who struggle with restating the question. I will continue to use this with small groups and whole group instruction!

Description

Practice answering open ended questions while restating the question to write in complete sentences with these 1st grade reading comprehension passages and short answer constructed response questions! Students practice finding text evidence and writing in complete sentences while restating the question. These reading comprehension passages and short answer questions help build stamina for constructed response reading comprehension questions.

Pages 1 and 2 are available for free in the preview for you to try out. You might also be interested in my 1st Set.

I use these passages with my students to practice PQA (put the question in the answer) or TTQA (turn the question around) to practice restating the question.

This is also a great resource for ESL/ELD students. Not only do students have to comprehend the passages, but they also have to use correct syntax in their responses. It's the perfect companion to your current reading comprehension work.

This is also great practice for 3rd graders who need reinforcement in writing in complete sentences and referring back to the text for text evidence.
