What educators are saying

Great way of sharing information about the solar eclipse with my students. The jokes were a cute touch. Would have loved a slideshow for visuals.

Description

On April 8, 2024 many people in North America will experience a total solar eclipse! This event is being celebrated in many cities and school across North America. Many individuals in Canada, the USA and Mexico will experience total darkness.

I created this work page as a fun and educational way to have students understand and enjoy what is happening. It begins to explain what makes this astronomical event so out of this world. It is science-based, but appropriate for a mainstream classroom.

It includes:

-Readings that explain the significance (science and safety)

-Comprehension questions

-ELA activity (word work, cause and effect)

-True and False activity about eclipses

-Space jokes

-Colouring safety poster

-Links to extension activities and videos

-Full answer key

Because I am both Canadian and American, it was important to me to include maps of both the USA and Canada. For this reason, this resource is appropriate for teachers in both countries.

So put on your safety glasses, and get ready for take off I've done the work for you already.
