Celebrate February with relevant reading fun! In this unit, you will find leveled informational texts designed specifically for first grade.
Different choices for text coding. ** Use prescribed coding for answering questions. ** Use text coding charts (3 versions).
This unit provides practice with digging into the text in a developmentally appropriate fashion.
Each title comes in two different layouts and in two different levels.

Each text comes with one page of questions. (Questions are focused on RI.2 for the purpose of close reading.) Common Core Standards are clearly indicated on each page where the whole page aligns or next to the question where more than one standard is addressed.
Each text also comes with one graphic organizer and one writing piece. These are more tools to use for the purpose of text evidence.
Two types of "Table of Contents" (Hyperlinked clickable and page numbers)
I have included three text coding charts. Nitty gritty ideas for close reading. These are only ideas as lessons vary according to student needs.
I included a cute cover page for those who like to create packets.
Each text is written at two different levels. Different layouts include questions on page. (Can be used as a stand-alone) Also includes double spaced 20pt font for close reading and annotating. (Border is removed while the images relating to the text are maintained.)
