Description

Teaching seniors can be a challenge. They want everything to be about life after high school. I helped my seniors reflect and articulate a plan for their life using this simple graphic organizer ahead of a larger "Future Day" at the school. This can be used in a math class as part of a financial unit or in advisory, economics, life skills, or even an English class!

Lesson Protocol:

  1. Give the students 10 minutes to fill in the top row of boxes, then another 3-5 minutes to write their planning statement.
  2. The next phase is to fill in the "what?" and the "why?" of their plan. Give 10-12 minutes for this phase.
  3. At this point, have students get in small groups to discuss what they have planned. Discussion allows them to further expand their plans and ideas.
  4. After 10 minutes of discussion allow students a final reflective phase to fill in "Now What?"

The download includes a sample that you can display for students as they work on their individual plan.
