What educators are saying

My students loved this for independent work! This was helpful to have for what can be a tricky concept.
This has helped me, help my son, make sense of when and why to read or use the spelling -ed at the end of particular words.

Description

Help struggling or beginning readers with the three sounds (d, t, id) of the -ed ending! This set includes 27 -ed ending word cards with pictures to help students independently read the ending sounds of -ed. Easy to cut out cards and recording sheet make these great for independent work. These are different than other ed word sorts, pictures are included with each word for differentiation and emergent readers.

The pictures of the actions on the cards help students read the words correctly and be able to hear the different -ed ending sounds. These work great for students who are struggling readers, English Language Learners or beginning readers. Students will quickly learn how to pronounce the -ed endings of words. Knowing the 3 sounds of -ed will then help your students with spelling.

Here's what you'll get:

  • 27 word cards, 9 of each sound
  • Placement Cards
  • Color by code practice sheet
  • Recording Sheet
  • Black and White Version
  • Digital Version

These activities are great for independent practice, centers, stations, intervention practice or small groups. Students can practice the sort multiple times and start to see patterns and similarities.

Your students will enjoy the feeling of success and independence as they are able to read the words and say the different -ed sounds with help from the pictures. With repetition, they will master the reading and spelling of -ed ending words.
