The conclusion of Lois Lowry's The Giver is obscure. Does Jonas die? This graphic organizer asks students to consider their stance, write a claim, find evidence, explain evidence, and stay fair to the other side by writing and refuting a counterclaim. This is a perfect activity to use if you are also working on literary analysis/argument writing as well. It can be used to set up an essay, debate, or just for a detailed discussion.
