Flips are a fun way to introduce and practice grapheme -phoneme correspondences for reading and spelling. One sound in a one-syllable word has a set of changes making rhymes (first sound changes) and assonance (last sound changes). This is also helpful for teaching consonant blends (one of the consonant blend sounds changes). I have added some more CC blend flips: MORE FLIPS FOR CONSONANT BLENDS.
