In a unit studying ancient Mesopotamia, the concept of natural vs. capital vs. human resources proved difficult for my students to differentiate. Using the tale of "The Three Little Pigs" student calls upon their previous knowledge to help fill in a chart based on the story. To conclude the lesson, there is a sorting SMART Board activity on the last slide.

Easter Story Elements
This Easter activity helps teacher instruct students about the different story elements: characters, plot, and setting. The beginning part of the lesson includes definitions of each element. Then, the students are able to select a picture from the board of eggs, chicks, and bunnies and answer a question about a provided story. Each question relates to either character, plot, or setting and has an accompanying story to go with it.

Easter Egg Attendance for SMART Notebook
I like to call this, Super Attendance because each student gets a DIFFERENT icon. Other attendance trackers have the same pictures with different student names. Kids LOVE how their attendance picture is special to only them. All names are easily editable in Smart Notebook with instructions provided. Each student has a different uniquely colored Easter egg.

Math Easter Egg Hunt with mean, median, mode, and order of operations
Fun holiday activity. Can be adapted to use anytime of the year. Students find "Easter Eggs" hidden throughout the classroom. Each egg has a problem they must solve. Once all sixteen eggs are found and problems are solved the students are rewarded with a prize.

This is an awesome Smart Board Lesson on the Black Plague and it's effect on the middle ages.
This lesson brings students through the who, why, where, what and how. Within this lesson is a hyperlink to a video the History Channel put up on the Black Plague. Just click "video" on slide two.
I have found that this lesson is an awesome way to keep kids engaged and has lots of information that is age appropriate. Recommended for sixth grade an up.
