How To Write A Speech
My students are required to write a 4-H speech. This was my first time teaching a group how to write a speech. I created this flipchart to explain components of a speech along with a rubric.
The grading rubric is embedded into the flipchart. In the notes section on the final slide, the directions explain how to open the grading rubric. The grading rubric is open to change. You can change it to fit your requirements or needs for your students.

Ostinato and Dave Brubeck's "Unsquare Dance"
Students will move and perform to the classic Jazz tune by Dave Brubeck. They learn the ostinato and clap and march to the ostinato in a fun circle dance and can also play along with the bass line. Essential and ELA questions are provided to connect to literacy.
A follow-up lesson has the students composing their own ostinati and performing for their peers. A Common Core classic!

Daily Quick Write - writing prompts for upper elementary students

I use these "Quick Write" prompts with my students every morning as they arrive. It is a great way to get the day started because many students arrive at different times, but everyone knows exactly what to do each day. The expectation is that students are writing a paragraph.

This FlipChart is a great resource for quick rhythm writing with your class! Uncover each rhythm from under its box (great review!) and then drag each rhythm to sit on its beat bar above. Choose which page of the FlipChart to be used based on where your students are in their curriculum. For ta/titi/rest there is also an 8 beat notation page for shorter songs and poems.

The Little Fugue of Johann Sebastian Bach
Students learn the Art of the Fugue in this colorful and fun lesson that incorporates Dalcrose, instrumental performance, and active listening. Teaching Minor Keys Through Recorder: Halloween Song
This product is an ActivInspire flipchart that is a complete lesson, to be used to teach a song in a minor key. This song is easily played on recorder by beginning to intermediate students.
