How I Teach Trigonometry Ratios Part 1
This is a 25 page Smartboard file explaining how to establish the ratios needed to do basic trigonometry. The lesson starts out giving definitions for hypotenuse, opposite, and adjacent. Vocabulary Practice Using Sports Games (SmartBoard Version)
Finding different approaches to reviewing vocabulary/introducing vocabulary can be very difficult. Vocabulary baseball is a fun way to incorporate both review and new words. Solving Right Triangle Activity
If a student steals a cookie...
Directions: Place students into 5 - 6 groups. In case you want, I included a random group generator into the SMART file for you. Students solve the problems on a whiteboard/paper. If the team gets it right, send one person from the group up to the board to pop open a box to see what they get...but be careful! There are many game changers in there just for you...and them! The GRAY X's help you keep track of which "cookie jars" you have answers.

Triangles SmartBoard
A smartboard lesson that reviews angles and discusses the ways we classify triangles (by their sides and angles). It has built-in partner discussion and hints to aid discussion. It discusses acute, obtuse, right, scalene, isosceles, and equilateral triangles.

Fantasy Vacation Internet Research Project
This lesson plan was designed to increase the computer literacy and internet research skills of 7th and 8th grade English Language Learners with very little experience with computers. Students use the internet to schedule a flight, hotel, transportation and visits to attractions within a two-week time span. Students must carefully budget their expenses. Introduction to Basic Trigonometry Activities for the Smart Board
Students are much more successful with solving basic introductory trigonometry problems when they spend time learning opposite, adjacent, and hypotenuse and learning how to decide what trigonometric ratio to use when. This SMART Board notebook activity provides students the opportunity to practice this vocabulary. It also provides a 'pull tab' with answers. The activity ends with a little trigonometry comic relief.
