This unit is designed to help teachers show students that cells are the building blocks of the body, making tissues which create organs. The unit is aligned to NGSS standard MS-LS-1-3. It begins by explaining in more depth how cells form tissues. There are several resources that will help students understand the different types of tissue and what they form. Body Systems Foldable
This foldable turned out better than I could have imagined. Students cut the foldable out and wrote each body system out on the flap and then looked up the function and drew a symbolic picture of the system on the front of the foldable. On the inside of the foldable students described the function of the system and listed the major organs in each system. These were the middle school benchmarks and a pre-requisite to the high school benchmark of relating the systems to one another. On the inside
