This unit for my 9th grade Pre-AP English students includes a PowerPoint presentation on tone and irony, a homework assignment based on the short story "Hills Like White Elephants," and then a 2-day classwork unit on Ernest Hemingway's "Hills Like White Elepheants," which puts their knowledge of tone and irony into practice.
