December/Christmas/Winter Journal Writing Prompt Booklet

This is a 7 page booklet that features two journal entries on each page. The first is a title page, so there are 12 writing prompts. Each page has several lines for a student response, as well as a box to draw a picture of the journal entries. These half sheets are to be cut out and given to students one at a time. At the end of the month, just before break, I like to punch holes and bind the journals for students to keep as a momento. This is for levels 2-4, or for special education students

A line of nail polishes representing The Hunger Games was released earlier this month. It struck me that it might be fun for the students to create a nail polish line based on another set of star-crossed lovers: Romeo and Juliet. This activity would not only allow students to be creative, but to show their understanding of the events and characters in the story.

While searching Pinterest, I saw a few photos of Peeta and popular songs that had been rewritten about the "bread incident." I thought the students would enjoy creating their own parodies of popular work, so I created a worksheet to do just that! Enjoy!

This file requires Microsoft Publisher to view and edit. I designed this product to help make your back to school transition easy. The file is fully editable but it can be used basically as is. For your convenience, I have bracketed the areas of the document that need to be personalized before distributing to students and parents. I use this letter as a part of an English 4 curriculum; however, you can easily adapt for any course with only minor changes. The document also contains a section th
