Character Card Template (novel study, play study, review)

This activity can be used to review characters for any novel, play, etc. You could use it for individual work (create a character booklet) or in groups for a faster review of characters. I most recently used it midway through teaching Hamlet (prior to the deaths) as a group activity. Each group was given one character name and completed as a poster to be displayed in the room. As the characters died, students labelled with cause of death! It's a great activity for any tragic story!

This powerpoint will mesmerize students-I was thrilled with the reaction I received from my class. The slides play through automatically as a song helps to raise the tone. Each slide depicts images, quotes, background information in addition to the text. This is a great way to begin the unit for Of Mice and Men because it motivates students while providing them with necessary information such as the Great Depression, stock market crash, migrant workers, maps of California, the quest for the Amer

(From the first page of notes in the 7-page unit:) For many years, I have found it useful to place authors' names upon a graphic organizer portraying a continuum of political and philosophical thinking. I usually begin by oversimplifying Socrates' question about whether humankind is good or evil. (I apologize for doing so if it offends anyone.) I simply say that he claimed that "evil" was not an appropriate label for human behavior or human nature; that in fact,
