This poster gives a quick visual reminder to students about the three different rhetorical (persuasive/argumentative) appeals. I use this regularly to point to during class within discussions throughout all my English classes (e.g. what part of the triangle is this argument leaning toward or using?).

In order to prepare students to write a compare and contrast essay or paragraph, students complete the handout to discuss similarities and differences between a film and written story. Once students complete Venn Diagrams about character, plot, and setting, students can choose from compare and contrast sentence starters to summarize information from the Venn Diagrams.
