SBAC Reading Comprehension Practice Packet (also makes a great sub packet!)
This packet includes an informational text reading on the origins of ice skating, vocabulary practice, reading comprehension questions, and a reading strategy paragraph frame.
This would make an excellent substitute packet, but I used it as one of my winter break homework assignments.

Interactive Word Wall
In small groups, students will receive a set including yellow, green, and red cards. They will piece these cards together to form as many words as possible in their groups. They must be able to define the word, or explain what it means in order for it to count. Teacher periodically walks around and asks students what a word means to check. After 5 min, any unused pieces are passed to the group to their left, and they have another 5 minutes to make as many more words as possible with the new
