December/Christmas/Winter Journal Writing Prompt Booklet
This is a 7 page booklet that features two journal entries on each page. The first is a title page, so there are 12 writing prompts. Each page has several lines for a student response, as well as a box to draw a picture of the journal entries.
These half sheets are to be cut out and given to students one at a time. At the end of the month, just before break, I like to punch holes and bind the journals for students to keep as a momento.

WORD CHOICE: Are You Showing Not Telling
Are you frustrated with your student's lack of descriptive writing. This activity is a great introduction to the concept of showing not telling in writing. On each of the twelve pages, students have an opportunity to sketch a picture related to an emotion. At the bottom of each page, they should describe the emotion without using the actual word (e.g. my heart was racing, my jaw dropped, and etc.)

Three (3) separate personification worksheets scaffolded to meet students at their specific ability. The first page consists of multiple choice questions, while the second has students underline example of personification, and the last asks students to explain what sentences using personification means. Stereotyping and bullying have become a major problem in our society. I have taken a creative approach in dealing with this by integrating the topic into a creative writing assignment that satisfies the common core standard of argumentative/persuasive writing. Included is a fun "Wreck it Ralph" writing paper for final drafts.

I created and printed this plot chart onto 11 by 17 paper for my class this year in order to help them plan their narrative stories before writing. It worked wonders!
Each step on the plot chart has clear instructions for each part of the story. (Exposition, Rising Action, Climax, Falling Action, and Resolution)

End of School Year Memory Book
This is an end of the school year memory book designed for elementary age children. The book has 14 pages for students to complete. There are places for students to write about their teachers, friends, favorite things, favorite (and not so favorite) memories, and 2 pages for autographs. I have my students cut the pages out and then we glue them on black construction paper, punch holes in the sides, and tie the pages together with ribbon. It makes a great keepsake for students to take home.

Toss Away Worn Out Words Poster
This file is poster sized. (24 by 36") It can be printed through poster maker or printed onto several small sheets and assembled together. Once printed, you can laminate it and hang onto the wall. I have my students right our "worn out" words onto the trash can with dry erase marker. This is a great visual for students and it encourages vocabulary growth.
