FREE Circles Radius Diameter Circumference CHEER Activity Smartboard Pdf Word

This is a CHEER I made up for students to help them remember Radius, Diameter, and Circumference. It gets them out of their desks and seats and up moving. Physically motioning out the parts of the circle does wonders to help students feel and remember the parts of the circle. Many times students get confused about which one is the radius, which is the diameter, and which is the circumference of a circle. This cheer is PERFECT for teaching them which is which. My students LOVE this cheer every ye

This product is a 4 min 8 sec whiteboard video that helps students make sense of the formula for the area of a circle with radius r. The video also reinforces that a square centimeter is a square with sides of length 1 cm, and for measurements where the unit of measurement is the centimeter, the area is the number of square centimeters that cover the circle without gaps or overlaps. Circle Calculations

This is a chart I have used in the past when I begin teaching circles. I give students numerous items that are circular. I then give them a piece of yarn and a ruler. Each student or team of students measures the diameter, and then put the string around the circumference marking the end with the tip of a finger. They then stretch out the yarn and measure it with the ruler as well. Then have students divide the circumference by the diameter to achieve an approximation of pi. The point being that

What I am trying to do with this channel is provide a quick guide to middle school students (eventually HS and elementary) on how to do pre-algebra math problems. I feel that the videos are very straight forward and provide helpful tips and resources to aid in homework, test/quiz help, and summer math packets. Please provide feedback as it will guide me as I begin to grow the channel. Also, please subscribe, like, and share so the channel will possibly help other students (and/or parents).
