This IEP goal bank was created to assist special education teachers with the task of writing standards-based IEP goals in math. After spending countless hours developing IEP goals myself and really having to think through how to best individualize goals and objectives for my own students, I wanted to share this resource to help other special education teachers gain back some of their time. This goal bank includes the following:An introduction and guide that explains how to use the document. Each

The first product from First Love! A simple place value chart template that can be used to help students solve math problems and modified to change the number of columns to fit the magnitude of the numbers your students are using. Just type in a math problem next to each chart and have students show their work on the chart using base-10 block drawings. I used this mainly for subtraction problems. Once students could use concrete base-10 blocks to solve subtraction problems, they transitioned to

Numeracy Learning Progressions

These learning progressions start at pre-curriculum levels (ages 1 +) and they go up to the second grade. They are based on developmental readiness so all curriculums will work. All children across the world will develop along these lines, regardless of the speed they reach them.I developed these during my time as a Numeracy Leading Teacher to support teachers to know the stages of learning in numeracy, and to identify gaps to fill for students. It is also a good tool for Teacher Judgement Data

This baseline (for more explanation on a Baseline, see my free lesson plan) will let you know if all your students know the base 10 numbers and can your students can use the numbers. They can say the numbers, but can they write the numbers, do they have one-to-one correspondences, can they add and subtract the numbers, and can they regroup with addition and subtraction?

Traditional Jenga rules are used in this game. Subtraction problems are for each Jenga block. I used a mini set of Jenga off of Learning Resources and wrote two problems on each block. Children take turns and in order to pull the block out of the tower, the student must answer the problem correctly. The person with the most correctly answered Jenga blocks once the tower tumbles, is the winner. Print on cardstock paper, laminate, and use the answer card to create the game, and place in math cent

This is a work sheet that involves students answering questions about themselves in relation to numbers. Some questions build upon each other. This hand out can also be used as an informal assessment to see what they know such as odd/even, adding 10s and 100s, subtracting a 10, number counting correspondence, vocabulary: double. Students love working on something that is meaningful to them. I am going to use this on the first day of school and have them share it out in groups to get to know each

I use these as a math center for my first graders. I laminate both sheets, and cut out the numbers. I store the numbers in a soap box container. Students draw a number and write the expanded form of that number using a dry erase marker. You could also use this as a hand out. This is fairly easy for most of my first graders, but could also be used with second and lower third graders.

Fast Facts Review: +0, +1, +2, +10, Doubles, and Complements of 10

In order to increase students' confidence in addition facts, I always started by teaching one trick at a time. I began with +0, then +1, then +2, then doubles, and then complements of 10. Once students know those tricks, they can simply memorize the other facts. Here is an easy sheet to review JUST these fast facts.

A great whole math class lesson starter or finisher to practise mental addition and subtraction using the words 'more than' and 'less than'.Each student receives a card (or two if a smaller class, every card must be handed out). Any student starts by reading out their question. Everyone mentally answers the math question. The person with the answer on their card reads out the answer and then their question. You keep going until you are back to the first person who read out their question.I recom
