Close reading is a major focus of the CCSS.
This organizer/worksheet helps students organize CLOSE READING findings when they investigate a non-fiction text. Inferring, activating prior knowledge, identifying text structure, noticing non fiction text features, citing evidence, drawing conclusions, determining main idea and summarizing are all skills and strategies that are addressed in this organizer. Great CENTER ACTIVITY after students are taught how to use!

This main idea anchor chart will save you a lot of repeating yourself! With easy to follow questions and interesting graphics, students will love referring back to it. I print a large copy to hang as an anchor chart as well as binder copies for students. This one can even be projected to fill out together on the board. Win-win!
