Smartboard lesson for "Everything Reptile" by Cherie Winner
This Smartboard lesson was designed to be used with "Everything Reptile: What kids really want to know about reptiles" by Cherie Winner. The first slide uses visual aids to introduce the tricky vocabulary used in the book. The second and third slides have writing prompts based on the book.

Expository Research 5-Paragraph Essay SMART Response Assessment
After learning the components of a 5-paragraph essay, students can take this as a formative assessment to show the teacher that they are ready to submit their final draft. If students do not do well with it, the teacher can see what they may need to revisit and revise, before students are finished with the final product. Answer Key is embedded in the document.

Plant Inquiry Investigation and Expository Writing for SMART
This SMART document is meant to accompany the Plant Inquiry Investigation and Expository Writing. Both files can be used for science units that require students to learn characteristics of organisms and structures for survival of plants. This five day mini-unit also guides students through the expository writing process. This file includes guided instruction on the writing of introductions, body paragraphs, and conclusions after students have completed the research component of the assignment.
