Flat Earth Inquiry Based Activity

There is a growing population of people who believe the Earth is flat. In this activity, students will be provided materials to represent the sun, moon, flat Earth, and round Earth. They will be given 9 phenomena (such as moon phases, and eclipses) and have to determine if it is possible to replicate with a flat or round Earth. The goal is critical thinking, not 100% accuracy. Included in your purchase:24 slide powerpoint (fully editable)2 page student worksheetTeacher directionsAnswer keyNeeded

Graphing Star Magnitude and Luminosity Virtual Lab Activity

How are a star's brightness, luminosity and magnitude related? And what factors can affect impact a star's brightness? In this interactive activity, students investigate how luminosity and apparent magnitude are related by graphing stars in the Canis Major Constellation. Move the sun's into the correct position on the graph right on the slide...no need to print!

In this lab, students will be able to describe how meteoroids impact the moon's surface over time. Students will use a marble at 3 different heights to investigate how speed can impact a crater's diameter. Included in this document is a PowerPoint that explains the lab and provides a video for background knowledge. The PowerPoint instructs students how to set up their science notebook for the lab. I have also included a slide with visuals that I place at lab tables to assist students during the

This is a project that I do with my students to help build creativity and group work. This takes about 4 weeks overall. I spend 1 week designing, 1 week building and 2 weeks of observation. I usually have them create a presentation of their results and take that for a grade. The project entails them to design and develop a chamber that can be produced on the moon or Mars and is self sustaining. But has the ability to growth food without much effort.
