TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have 16 years of experience teaching in a self-contained K-2 elementary age classroom for students with severe autism in a therapeutic day school setting.

MY TEACHING STYLE

My classroom uses a variety of instructional approaches including ABA principles, structured teaching, discrete trial training, Verbal Behavior, errorless learning, direct instruction, with an emphasis on communication using core words with PECS, high tech devices, and Partner Augmented Input (PAI). ABLLS-R and VB-MAPP assessments are used to derive IEP goal development.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

No official Awards, but the reward for me is seeing all of the progress my students make each day!

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I attended Trinity Christian College in Illinois. I have a BA in Education with certification in Special Education (LBS1) and Elementary Education K-12 with middle school endorsements. I also have attended a variety of trainings including Verbal Behavior, VB-MAPP, PECS, PAI, DTT, LAMP, and more.
