TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I was a special education teacher for 10 years in a high needs school in a self-contained classroom. I now work full time as a consultant and trainer. I work as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) helping parents and teachers develop effective programs for their learners with autism.

MY TEACHING STYLE

Special education teachers have a busy job! We need to incorporate life skills instruction, social skills training, academic teaching, communication systems, behavior management, hygiene training, inclusion, expressive/receptive language instruction, and fine/gross motor practice into one busy day. Each child's curriculum is developed specifically for them based on their IEP goals. Organization is key with this much going!

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

My website The Autism Helper was named one of the top 30 blogs for teachers!

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I am Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). I have a Masters in Applied Behavior Analysis from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology and a Bachelors in Special Education from Miami University of Ohio.
