I have been teaching Visual Arts at the High School level for 9 years - 8 of those years I have taught AP Studio Art concentrating on the Drawing Portfolio. My students have submitted a total of 113 portfolios over the last 8 years with a 100% pass rate - 86 of those portfolios have received a score of 5.

My teaching style is extremely skill oriented. I spend extensive time building basic drawing and painting skills, along with a classical approach to color theory. Drawing techniques include sighting, right-brained drawing technique, negative space, shape building method, observational technique (life drawing), value, no outlines, high contrast drawing on black paper, colored pencil theory, and more.

We participate each year in Scholastics Art & Writing Awards (18 county Mid-Atlantic Region in NC). The students have been awarded over 300 Gold & Silver Keys regionally since 2011. Over the last 4 years we have also been awarded 6 National Medals. As an AP Studio Art Program our students have a 100% pass rate. We also have two students who have received one of less than 26 perfect scores in the entire world - one in 2014 and one in 2016.

I have been a Visual Arts Teacher at Lake Norman High School in Mooresville, NC for the past 9 years. I also own my own business creating custom competition bikinis for competitive body builders - my business is Fox Competition Bikinis. I have been married 30 years to my fabulous husband and we have a 26 year old daughter who is a successful Speech Pathologist. Teaching is my passion and it is my goal each day to help my students realize their full talent and limitless potential.
