TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been teaching for eight years and have truly worn many hats! I have been a reading specialist, gifted/talented teacher, 5-8 interventionist, K-8 German teacher, K-2 classroom teacher, and have taught sections of middle school music, acting, history, yoga, and dance. Most of my products center around German, as I've taught it the longest. While working as a 5-8 interventionist I created many AimsWeb testing resources, so many of my products arose out of the need I saw in that area. I have led music programs, 'I Love to Read' week, a school talent show and a school spelling bee. I love to plan and organize.

MY TEACHING STYLE

German: Very hands-on! I like to get students up and speaking, and enjoy assessments that are skit and performance based. I use the ACTFL standards in my classroom and like to be goofy. Intervention: I am very direct in my approach to intervention. I provide explicit instruction. I typically begin math with a number sense fluency warmup, then focus the remaining time on material being targeted in the classroom. My goal is to move students out of Tier 2 and into Tier 1.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

My shining moment was being selected as 8th-grade graduation speaker. We only had five graduates that year, and I keep in contact with all their families to this day.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

All my degrees are from Montana. I have a master's degree in Educational Leadership from Rocky Mountain College, and a bachelor's degree from Montana State University. I am certified to teach K-12 German, K-8 Elementary Education, and to be a K-12 administrator in Montana.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I spent most of my teaching career in Livingston, Montana, where I taught in the beautiful Paradise Valley. After marrying my husband, Shane, I spent a year in Bozeman before we moved to the Missoula area. My husband and I enjoy playing Pinochole and spending time with family.
