TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Although this is my first year teaching (officially) in a classroom, I have several years of experience in curriculum writing and delivery through the National FFA Organization. Classes I offer(ed) the 2019-2020 school year: 8th grade agriculture, horticulture, agriculture business, agriculture communication and leadership, companion animals, food science, plant science, world foods, introduction to agriculture and animal science.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I strive to provide interactive, hands-on learning for students - accomplishing this through students having choices in their learning about and communicating that information in a variety of ways. Examples include: presentations, blogs/vlogs, articles and essays, posters and more!

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

2016-2017 South Dakota FFA State Reporter Although this may seem like an add "teacher" award, my FFA career is truly what helped me become a teacher and be the teacher I am today. Through my FFA experience, I qualified for national contests in 7 areas. This experience is reflected in my classroom and my teaching style.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

High School: Viborg-Hurley, South Dakota 2011-2016 College: South Dakota State Unversity; Brookings, South Dakota; Agricultural Communication Degree Teacher Certification: South Dakota CTE Alternative Certification Program

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

Being raised on my family's 7th-generation farm, I have been very involved in production agriculture all my life. Major in communication in college, I fell in love with teaching because I believe in the importance of teaching the next generation about the truths of agriculture and how to communicate them to others.
