Description
Matching is an essential skill for beginning learners! Teach your students matching skills through these zoo animal themed matching activities. These 10 interactive matching boards are perfect for addressing IEP goals. They include both identical and non-identical matching skills, as well as errorless tasks, giving students the freedom to learn the skill without the fear of making mistakes.
These Match It! tasks are intentionally themed around student interests, which results in better engagement and enjoyment while learning! Match It! tasks are ideal for enhancing independent work skills for students with disabilities. You can prep these for binder work, file folders, or even cut and paste worksheets. Cut, laminate, velcro & use over and over again!
How to Teach Matching:
When teaching matching skills, I like to start with errorless matching activities so that students understand where to place the pictures and how to complete the task. Next, I present one matching card at a time. As students get more proficient with the skill, I give them more than one card to match at a time, until they are finally able to complete the task independently. I recommend starting with matching identical pictures first, then moving to matching non-identical pictures, and finally to matching words to pictures.
