Description

I have found this Project-Based Learning activity to be the best way ever to get kids excited about writing and fundraise at the same time. Young authors write, edit, revise, illustrate, and publish books through the year and culminate with a BOOK SIGNING/SALE. This product includes all you need to help young authors along the path of selecting, discussing, editing, improving, revising, and illustrating their previous writing into books. It also contains several ways to reward the authors for their writing with awards, crowns, and certificates. Then you can use the editable invitations, programs, and thank-you letters to host your own sale, benefitting the cause of your choice. It is an excellent way to give students a voice and an authentic audience for their writing.

Product Includes:

* 9 pages of explicit directions of how to use product and helpful hints

* 14 Power Point slides to project to help guide students through the lessons

* A printable cover for Student Writing Folders

* 10 pages to copy for a packet of brainstorming, editing, & revising (correlates with the Power Point slides)

* Printable covers for books

* Printable pages for the books (if you prefer to not buy them)

* 3 versions of pages to complete for "About The Author" page

* 2 versions of celebration crowns saying, "I just published a book!"

* A color and a Black & White editable certificate to print for each author

* Color ribbons to print for 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place in two categories (best story and best illustrations)

* A color and a black & white name plate for use during the Book Signing/Sale

* A color and a black & white editable invitation to the Book Signing/Sale

* A color and a black & white editable program for the event

* 4 versions of editable thank you notes to send home after the event

* Extra editable "Young Authors" pages to make your own

I used this program with 1st Graders, but it could also be used with Kindergartners at the end of the year as well as 2nd Graders. Teachers, students, parents, administrators, and district officials attended our event and raved about it. See their comments on the thumbnail previews.

We purchased small books to write our final copies in and easels to display them upon during the event. I have included pictures of the ones we used.

Proceeds from this store go to scholarships for new teachers. Please help me Create-It-Forward!
