Description

This escape the park activity is great for a variety of ages. Students will have an hour to complete all the questions to find a treasure. They will have to solve math problems with real world application in order to open separate lock boxes. If they don't make it in an hour the park will be closed. I have included multiple sets of questions that could be used for a variety of skill levels. You will need manilla folders to represent your lock boxes. The questions include a variety of readiness standards mostly focusing on 3rd, 6th and 7th grade math.

This escape room practices the following math topics:

Set 1

· Order sets of rational numbers in real world

· Generate fractions, decimals and percent in real world scenarios

· Multiply and Divide Rational Numbers

· Find part given whole and percent, and percent with part and whole

· Convert units use proportions and unit rate

· Area of shapes

· Graph in four quadrants

· Calculate Mean and Range

Set 2

· Add subtract multiply divide rational numbers

· Rate of change

· Converting Units

· Solve ratios rates percent increase decrease

· Solve problems with similar shape and scale drawing

· Circumstances/area circles

· Area of composite figures

· Solve problems with data and graph’s part to whole

· Solve problems based on proportional rates

· Solve problems involving precents

· Solve problems involving distance and rate or change

Tell and write time to the nearest minute and measure time intervals in minutes. Solve word problems involving addition and subtraction of time intervals in minutes, e.g., by representing the problem on a number line diagram.
Solve real world and mathematical problems involving perimeters of polygons, including finding the perimeter given the side lengths, finding an unknown side length, and exhibiting rectangles with the same perimeter and different areas or with the same area and different perimeters.
Fluently add and subtract within 1000 using strategies and algorithms based on place value, properties of operations, and/or the relationship between addition and subtraction.
Interpret products of whole numbers, e.g., interpret 5 × 7 as the total number of objects in 5 groups of 7 objects each. For example, describe a context in which a total number of objects can be expressed as 5 × 7.
Interpret whole-number quotients of whole numbers, e.g., interpret 56 ÷ 8 as the number of objects in each share when 56 objects are partitioned equally into 8 shares, or as a number of shares when 56 objects are partitioned into equal shares of 8 objects each. For example, describe a context in which a number of shares or a number of groups can be expressed as 56 ÷ 8.
