Year Long Spelling Workbook - Graphemes and Phonemes
This spelling program will take the stress out of teaching spelling to your students. With 129 pages of spelling sheets and 430 spelling words, you are guaranteed to cover all the phonemes that students need to know when spelling words.
Each worksheet covers a phoneme (sound) and the different graphemes that make up that phoneme. There are 43 different phonemes included in this pack. For each phoneme, students are given ten spelling words at the top of their page. They are then required to break each word into its different graphemes and syllables before writing their words in alphabetical order.
After this, they write a definition for each word (it may be useful to provide a dictionary for this activity). As a challenge, students are then asked to write each word in a sentence (lines are provided). Finally, there is a word search provided for each phoneme, which is great as an early finisher activity.
This resource is a great way to reinforce your teaching and help to guide your planning. The words used in this pack are suitable for grades 3 and 4 but could be applied to grades 5 and 6 depending on student ability levels.
US spelling and UK spelling versions are included in this download. Simply unzip the file and select the version that you require.
