2. Learning Targets and Study Guide - Includes a unit overview, 11 learning targets, an essential standard, and a self evaluation students can take to assess their understanding of the content being taught. Also includes a list of terms, people, and events students must know to master the learning target.

6. Causes of WWI Writing Prompt – Encourages students to analyze the causes of World War I and to think about when is war the right answer.

8. Conditions of Trench Warfare Sourcework Worksheet - A great worksheet that combines 9 Primary sources and Secondary Source information with 20 questions students need to answer. The answer key is provided.

9. Technology of World War I Sourcework Worksheet - A great worksheet that combines 6 Primary sources and Secondary Source information with 20 questions students need to answer. The answer key is provided.

10. Letter From the Trenches - Students are to use what they have learned in class to contextualize, or imagine the setting, of World War I trenches. Students write a letter home to a loved one, describing the conditions and technology of World War I trench warfare. They must discuss the reason for their country being involved with World War I and use 16 prescribed words in their letter. These words cover everything from trench foot to machine guns. This assignment is a great way to get students to put themselves into the shoes of a World War I soldier.

11. War Poster Analysis Project – Students get to choose from 40 different World War I propaganda posters (provided in this package) from different countries that were involved in the war. Once they have picked a poster, they will analyze the propaganda poster using the War Poster Analysis handout. When students have analyzed the theme and propaganda of the poster, they are instructed to create their own propaganda poster based off of the information from the poster they picked out. This is a great project to teach students about propaganda used in the war.

12. War Horse Viewing Questions – Students are to answer 13 questions about the movie War Horse as they view the movie in class. The answer key is provided.

13. Zimmermann Telegram Activity – Students are provided the Primary Source of the Zimmermann Telegram and are required to answer several questions about the document. The answer key is provided.

14. End of World War Writing Prompt – Encourages students to analyze the how World War I ended, how Germany was treated, and the consequences for those actions.
