    Description

This bundle includes a variety of our engaging, best-selling resources for teaching through the World War I. These hands-on activities can engage your students throughout the span of your teaching unit. The products include engaging projects, a class debate, and a movie guide. Just print and go!

    Resources included in this bundle:

    1. World War I Battle Project - This is a project in which students research a key battle from World War I and input the information either on a poster or in a slideshow. Students will sign up for a battle of their choice to learn about the background, timeline, event, outcome, historical analysis, legacy, and will culminate in their own reflection. This project can be done individually or collaboratively in groups. There are criteria options for either you or the students to choose the format: One option for completing the assignment is for students to create a poster for display, or there is a second option for completing the assignment digitally in slides (ex: Google Slides, PowerPoint).

    2. World War I Newspaper Project - This is a project in which students research a key event from World War I and create a newspaper reporting the event as though they're in the time period. Students are given criteria, lists of options to choose from (for World and U.S. History), a notepad style research organizer for answering the 5 Ws like a journalist, and 4 pages to input the information for the newspaper. The newspaper pages include a front page article, opinion piece columns, space for creating a political cartoon or comic strip, and a section to come up with want ads that fit the time period.

    3. Treaty of Versailles Debate - This is a set of lesson materials that culminates in a class debate about the conflicting ideas between the European leaders and President Wilson with regard to Germany's penalties. Students will: Learn about the outcome of World War I and the goals for peace, analyze different viewpoints, be assigned a position to take, collaborate within teams, prepare main arguments, peer review each other's reasoning, and will participate in an academic debate that is guided by moderator questions (included). The objective is to help students think critically, learn to articulate a view, and relate to the other side.

    4. 1917 Movie Guide - This is a set of resources for viewing the movie 1917 in your classroom. This movie is a great portrayal of World War I, trench warfare, and Britain's involvement in fighting for the Allies. Great for the World History classroom. The viewing guide is detailed and arranged in time-stamped sections. In addition to filling out the viewing guide questions, students will: Complete discussion questions that can be done individually or in small groups, do a character analysis, and be assessed with a quiz. These resources will help students to think critically about the movie's portrayal of World War I and glean the historical themes.
