Description

There are 8 defining characteristics of a civilization – teach them to your students in a way that engages and excites them! This lesson is designed to teach the 8 features of a civilization with a gallery walk. Students will begin the lesson with a discussion on what it means to be civilized. They will then learn about the features of civilization by visiting different placards in a gallery walk and taking notes on a graphic organizer. They will process the activity with multiple games and an assignment requiring them to compare the features of a civilization in their community. This activity embeds the Interactive Student Notebook with a preview, graphically organized notes, and a processing assignment.

**Updated in 2020 with Google Slides™ for distance learning
