What educators are saying

This resource pairs great with WTW. I love using it with my small groups to give them more opportunities to practice the WTW focus of the week.
This complements the students' words their way sorts and adds another depth to understanding their words. For my struggling spellers, this really helps them think through their words and learn the patterns.

Description

Would you like to scaffold and reinforce your students in word work and make deeper connections to spelling patterns? This 144-page word study activity sheet resource includes all 59 word sorts to complement the ‘Within Word Patterns’ (yellow book) from the Words their Way™ program. In fact, this resource fits nicely into whatever spelling or phonetic program you are using.

These worksheets or what I like to call activity sheets, can be used in small group lessons, or even in large groups. The activities are straightforward and allow for the gradual release model to allow students to work independently. In fact, each spelling pattern has the same instructions to make it easier for teachers and students.

➡️Each sort includes 2 worksheets for students to practice their weekly word sorts, along with a 2 page assessment you can use.

✔The kinds of activities in this resource include:

  • cut and paste
  • fill in the blank sentence work and word work
  • matching pictures to words
  • Circling correct words
  • word searches
  • sorting with pictures and words
  • spelling words
  • identifying letters

➡️* Activities are different than those in the Digital Activity resource*

Students can store their sheets in a duotang or you can glue them into a notebook after sorting or writing the words.

**For use to complement the 3rd edition Yellow Working Within Words from the  Words Their Way™ program published in 2018.
