Description
Working on CVC words? This low prep, ink-friendly resource features five hands-on word work centers featuring CVC words from the following word families: -ab, -ad, -ag, -am, -an, -ap, -at.
Playdoh Center:Students use playdoh to make words on their mats, then record the words on their recording sheet. There are 13 mats and 1 recording sheet. All mats have a picture cue to promote comprehension.
Word Puzzles Center: Students assemble word puzzles on their puzzle mats, then write their words on their recording sheet. All puzzles have a picture cue to promote comprehension. There are 3 puzzles for each word family. Differentiation options: 1: There are two different puzzle mats: one is completely blank and the other has lines that match the order of the puzzle pieces. 2: You can further differentiate for non-readers by making a second copy of a puzzle sheet before you cut up the puzzles - the child can match the pieces to letters on their mat.
Word Sorts Center:Students sort words on a sorting mat, then record the words they sorted on their recording sheet. There are 4 total sorts, as well as blank sorting mats you can use to make your own sorts. Dfferentiation options: 1: Sort words into two categories instead of three categories. 2: Use cards with picture cues instead of text-only cards
Slide-A-Word Center: Kids use word sliders to make words, then write their words on their recording sheet. Differentiation option: use slider cards with picture cues.
Build-A-Word Center:Students put a picture of a word on their mat, say the word, build it with letter and cards, then record it on their recording sheet. There are 5-6 pictures for each word family. Differentiation option: use labeled pictures instead of unlabeled pictures.
All 5 centers also come with a center sign and an "I Can" poster that includes picture instructions to promote independence for struggling students. Let me know if you have any questions!
