    Description

Let it snow! Are you ready for some wintery fun? This bundle includes my "Snowy Day Writing Mini-Unit", 3 products that provide students with additional practice of the elaboration strategies included in the unit, as well as some blank narrative writing pages so that you can follow this same format with any other subject or narrative unit that you do!

With this mini unit, students will be writing a personal narrative about a snowy day and learning strategies for elaborating and using details. This can also be a great resource for sub plans!

This pack is full of ideas and strategies to help your writers create a story about their snowy adventures using details and practicing the skill of elaborating. This is perfect to use during those long winter months to support your students in growing their narrative writing skills and have some fun while doing it! I highly recommend pairing this unit with a fun wintery read aloud

    Five Senses Elaboration Strategy Resource:

With this activity, students can add details to their stories by using their five senses to elaborate on what they experienced. Use this as a whole group or small group activity. It can be used to teach a strategy before writing, or as a revision tool to revise and add more details to a story that students have already started!

    What's Included:

    Growing Sentence Write The Room

With this activity, students will get up and moving to practice the elaboration strategy of growing sentences. This strategy teaches students to answer the questions "where, when, how, and why" to write a detailed sentence. Students can roam the room and fix the sentences that are posted by using the growing sentences strategy. Or, you could put this is a center and use the cards as task cards.

    What's Included:

    · 8 task cards to post around the room
    · Student recording sheets
    · teacher answer sheets

    Narrative Writing Sheets

The great thing about this resource is the versatility that it allows! You can write a story together on a shared experience, like having a fire drill. Students can write individual stories about experiences, or you could take students outside for a walk and use your five senses to describe what is around you! This strategy allows students to see all of the sensory details that should be included in a story when writing.

This pack includes student pages for every step of the writing process, including brainstorming pages, planning pages, an anchor chart, as well as draft and final copy papers. This pack can be used along with any narrative writing unit and also includes strategies for teaching students to elaborate in their writing!
