What educators are saying

There is no better way, in my opinion, to practice the art/science of reading than using Reader's Theater!
This is exactly what I was looking for! My students love this script and are so excited to present it to our preschool students! Thank you!

Description

Readers' Theater - Christmas Readers' Theater Script Literacy Toolkit: The Snowball of Petey McCrunch (grades 3, 4, 5 & 6). When Tinsel the Elf shows up at Shamdoogle Elementary to redo Santa's Good-and-Bad List, a single snowball from Petey McCrunch nearly sends Christmas into chaos.

This humorous readers' theater script and literacy toolkit can provide a wonderful cure for your students' winter blues. The 6-page script is written for 8 readers—4 narrators & 4 characters—although the number of narrators can be adjusted for varying group sizes.

The script includes a list of “Watch-out words!” This feature highlights challenging words for which students may need help as they practice. These words also make terrific candidates for classroom vocabulary instruction.

If you choose to do script-based vocabulary instruction, the Word Work vocabulary activity uses four of the “Watch-out words!” for more in-depth vocabulary study. A Sample Answer Key provides a basic, kid-friendly explanation of each word’s meaning, which can be used when actively teaching students the words.

The literacy toolkit also includes:

*Sound Effect Cue Cards for optional audience participation

*Character Traits graphic organizer activity

*Readers' Theater Weekly Practice Checklist for a 5-day framework to guide students' day-by-day RT fluency practice

A basic overview of readers' theater is also provided, including information on the four essential components of reading fluency—accuracy, rate, phrasing, and expression.

This winter holiday readers' theater script and bonus reading activities are perfect for third-grade, fourth-grade, fifth-grade, and sixth-grade students.
