Use this activity in small groups or as part of a take-home packet. If you choose to create a resuable math literacy center, consider using velcro dots or small magnets (not included) on the winter pictures and the ordinal answer cards so children can work independently and self-check their answers.

Working with pre-readers? Each logic puzzle comes with both a rebus task card and one written with all words. Aside from basic sight words, this logic activity controls vocabulary to the following words:

• candy cane, penguin, reindeer, snowman, tree

• first, second, third, fourth, fifth

• after, before, end, next to, not

NOTE: A color printer is not necessary but it will help to make this activity more engaging.
