What educators are saying

My kindergarten students really love using this resource to explore different animals who hibernate and migrate! :)
Wonderful resource to enhance my first grade language and science lesson. This resource was engaging for students.

Description

Your students will have so much fun learning about what bears, chipmunks, butterflies, geese, snails, humpback whales and bumblebees do to prepare for winter. We study animals who migrate and animals who hibernate. These activities are perfect for kindergarten, first or second grade students.

WINTER ANIMAL ACTIVITIES

8 Animal Reading Passages

We study four animals that hibernate and four animals that migrate (chipmunk, bear, bumblebee, snail, goose, monarch butterfly, humpback whale and penguin.) Students read the informational passage and take notes on their coordinating graphic organizer. Then they complete the sentence starter.

Animal Pocket Cards

Students sort the real-life animal pictures under the correct headings (Animals that Migrate/Animals that Hibernate/Animals that DO NOT Hibernate.)

Flip Books

Two flip books are included (migrate/hibernate)

Cut and Paste Activity Page

Students cut, sort and paste the pictures in the correct spot.

Retelling and Sequencing

We practice retelling and sequencing a favorite winter story with animals. Read my blog post to learn more (you will need a specific book for this activity.)

Winter Animals Mini Book

An adorable mini book for students to read predictable sentences and then they trace the animal word on each page.

PLEASE NOTE

These activities are included in my complete ALL ABOUT WINTER UNIT - please do not purchase this listing if you already own Unit 6 All About Winter.
