Description

Do you know why leaves change color? Completing this experiment will help you discover why! The file contains complete step-by-step directions and pictures on how to complete a leaf chromatography experiment. The materials needed to do the experiment are readily available: leaves, rubbing alcohol, hot water, metal spoon, bowls, and paper towels or coffee filters. An explanation of what is happening during the experiment, and what it means is also included. The file also contains suggestions for resources that can enhance the teaching of the science concept, a student recording sheet, and an 8-page mini-book that details why leaves change color in clear student-friendly language (my average second grade readers had no trouble reading the book).
