Description

In this extended project, students will showcase their knowledge of heredity vs. environment by creating a Google Slides presentation that displays their own hereditary and environmental traits. In their presentation, they will explain how their traits have influenced their development by explaining each trait on two virtual collages. They will create their presentation via Google Slides as this product includes a full template for them to make a copy of. Each project will include 6 slides (title slide, two visual collages, two explanation slides, and one conclusion slide). Example collage and hereditary explanation slides are included.

This product will open as a Google Drive folder with 3 files inside. All the documents are editable! Make a copy of the project instructions Doc in order to change any of the instructions, requirements, rubric criteria, or point values. Then you will open the two other documents: an editable Your Traits WS and an editable Google Slides project template. Your students will end up making copies of both the worksheet and the slides in order to begin the project, but of course you are able to make any edits beforehand.

A remote/virtual course adaptation is also included in the instructions! Those students will go through the same steps, but you can decide whether they present over a video conference or film a voice-over/screen recorded video for you to view. It can also serve as a presentation accommodation for some students.

My students first completed this project in my Human Development class within an Influences on Your Development unit. Now I use it in a Principles of Early Childhood Education class! This project served as a nice ice breaker presentation as they get to present all about themselves. I really enjoyed hearing about the traits of my students and learning so much about them! By the time I introduced the project and we finished presentations, it took over a week of class time.
